HIGH SCHOOL

Agriculture Contest

Agriculture Education Contest is held at NWMSU campus in both the fall and spring. If the students excel in their areas they may quailfy for state competition. Participants may compete in a variety of contests which include: Soils, Entomology, Agromony, Ag Mechanics, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Foods, Farm Management, Floriculture, Livestock Judging, Meats, Nursery Landscape, Forestry, Ag. Sales, and Horse Judging.

FBLA's mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. They provide a wide variety of service projects, competitive event contests, awards and scholarships to students across the country as well as a wide array of leadership opportunities.

High School Academic Team

The High School Academic team competes in five meets on Mondays in March. There are three schools at each meet and each school competes twice.

Math Contest

Mathematics Olympiad is an event designed to stimulate interest in mathematics and to recognize mathematical ability and achievement among high school students. Students competing will compete against those students of the same grade, regardless of the amount of math taken. Examinations are multiple choice and no calculators are allowed. During the afternoon, a guest speaker presents and the awards ceremony is held. Individual senior first place winners receive a $2500 scholarship and second place receives a $1250 scholarship to Northwest Missouri State University. Individual winners receive a medallion and certificate. Plaques are awarded to first-place teams in each class and certificates are given to the top three teams at each grade level within each class.

JUNIOR HIGH

Junior High Academic Team

There are five meets each year starting in February and there are two matches per meet. At each meet there are four quarters the first and third have fifteen tossup questions worth ten points each, and in the second and the fourth quarters have ten tossup questions worth ten points each with ten four part bonus questions worth five points for each.

Junior High Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments. The Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of team events, which students prepare for during the year.

Junior High Spelling Bee

Participants
Three 7th graders and three 8th graders and one alternate in each grade. They are chosen in December using a written test.

County Spelling Bee
It is held the third week in February on a date set by the County Bee director.

The Gentry County Spelling Bee is held in February and 8th grade students from Albany, King City, and Stanberry participate. There is a written test
of 50 words given to each grade level and an oral competition as well.

Regional Spelling Bee
It is held in March in St. Joseph sponsored by St. Francis Xavier School.
